Welcome!
The goal of the Leduc Mommy Mingle group is to build a fun and supportive community of Moms and children in Leduc.
We are a group of Moms and families in the Leduc area who get together for playgroups, activities, special events, Mom’s evenings, and to enjoy the fun of raising our children! It’s been said that “it takes a village” to raise a child, and this group is a great way to expand your own little village. With an active calendar and equally active message board, our members will find the encouragement, advice and support they desire and the bonding they need to survive in the frontlines of motherhood.
The majority of our meetups take place during the week, so our group is well suited to families where the parent is available at least a few days during the week to participate in events. We do, however, have quite a few evening “Moms Only” events and try to incorporate a couple of weekend meeupts a month to accommodate our working Moms!

Things you need to know about our Mommy Mingle Meetup! If your questions are not answered below, please check our
FAQ page!
Membership:New members will be approved as space becomes available. We are a small group (50 Moms, maximum) and currently have a waiting list. When current members leave the group, the next Mom on the waiting list will be added.
You simply need to be a Mom, from the Leduc area (Leduc, Beaumont, Devon, Millet, Calmar, Rollyview etc...), have at least one child who is not yet in school at the time that you join, and be eager to participate in our Mommy Mingle community!
Before a new member can be approved, they will be required to provide their full contact information (including name, address, phone number and email address), names and ages of their child(ren), and must post a photo of themselves in their profile.
New members will be required to attend AT LEAST one event within the first 30 days so that the organizers can meet them.
Members are offered a 1 month "Trial Membership" to allow you an opportunity to attend a couple of meetups and get to know us on the message board. Once you have been a member for a month, you will be asked to either pay the membership fee to remain a member, or remove yourself from the group.
If you have ANY concerns about the membership fee or being able to be involved in the group during the trial month, please contact us (our emails are linked in the "Organizer/Assistant Organizer" box on the left side of the meetup.com pages). If you are in a tight financial situation and $10 is too much, please let us know and we will figure out a way to make it work.
Responsibilities of the Members:1. Attend events regularly
We want to get to know YOU! This group can be a great resource and support for Moms, but that only works if the members participate by attending meetups. We ask that you attend the events that interest you and your family and it is recommended that you attend at least one event a month. We understand that you have other commitments as well, but members who do not attend on any sort of regular basis may be asked to leave the group at the discretion of the organizers.
We also ask that you complete the post-event surveys, sent via email by meetup.com after any event for which you have RSVP’d “Yes” or “Maybe”. This is a great way to let your organizers know whether or not an event was well attended, well organized and if you had fun!
2. Participate on the message board
First and foremost, this group is dedicated to it’s members. This is YOUR group! Please use the message boards to communicate with the other Mingle members, ask questions, and don't hesitate to contact your organizers with any ideas or concerns that you might have. We are very open to suggestions, and want to make this a fun, supportive group for everyone!
3. Annual Membership Fee
Members are asked to pay a $10.00 annual membership fee to help cover the cost of running the website ( approx $180/year, depending in exchange rates) as well any other administrative or group event fees that come up during the year. A complete financial account can be provided by request.
4. RSVP for events posted to the Calendar
Please use the RSVP feature to let us know whether or not you will be attending an event - even a "No" response is helpful! If you RSVP "Yes" or "Maybe" and your plans change so that you are unable to attend, PLEASE update your RSVP as soon as possible so that someone else can take your spot. If an event is full, please check back regularly in case a spot becomes available.
5.Host an event now and then!
If you are able, we would love to have you host an event - a Mom’s night out, a playdate for the little ones, a potluck lunch, a pool party in the summer! The best way to get to know your fellow members is to have fun together!
6. Be respectful
We have worked hard to maintain a positive environment among our members, both in person and on the message board. Members are expected to behave in a way that is respectful of each other’s choices and opinions. You may choose to “agree to disagree”, but please do so in a way that is kind and understanding. Parenting choices are unique to the parent and the child, and no one can ever know for sure how they would react in a similar situation. We are here to support each other and to help us all do the best job that we can as parents and as members of the community.
7. Check your email regularly!
All communications are made via email – automated emails from the site, notifications from the Organizers and new event postings! You must have regular access to an internet connection either at home or at work and be committed to checking your email often.
8. Keep in touch with the Organizers
If you are leaving town for holidays or won’t be able to attend events for any extended period of time, please let us know. Also, if you have family news to share – good or bad, please let us know so that we can offer support or congratulations!
Mommy Mingle HistoryThe Leduc Mommy Mingle Meetup Group was started in March 2007, by Sarah Gardiner and Christine Hopaluk. We’ve since added Carmen Somers as another Assistant Organizer and have several members fulfilling other volunteer roles (Care Team Leader, Assistant Event Coordinator, Birthday Coordinator, Welcome Wagon!)
Since March 2007, we have seen over 80 members join our group with 30 leaving during that time and a core group of about 25 that have been members since the beginning. Many of the members that have left have been due to inactivity or moving out of town – members that make the effort to get involved have formed lasting friendships and place great value on the group itself.
The Organizers recognize our group’s responsibility to give back to the community, and we have been involved with Santa’s Helpers in the past as well as helping individuals in need whenever possible. We will continue to investigate outreach opportunities within the community.
The group is here for you... make it yours!
Cheers,
~Sarah, Christine and Carmen
