I started this group because all of my friends are married and really don't understand the difficulties of being a single parent. Being a single parent can be like living in a different world, but you don't have to go it alone. We will have events like coffee night, comedy club, hiking, and some events will involve kids. I have been a relative caregiver to my 15 year old niece for almost two years. Her adoption should be final by March 2012 :)When talking to the caregiver of her two younger siblings, we discussed how there is so much support and help for the parents of these kids, and the kids themselves by way of therapy, parenting classes, and other services offered by CPS and DPSS, but there is nothing in place for the caregivers and foster families.
